More Show lessĪ friend and I were on a cross country road trip collecting stories for our travel columns and on the return were getting low on funds. I will never accept a smoking room again.
Who wants to sleep inside of an ashtray? The beds were nice and the room was clean had it not smelled like an ashtray. When a stench rises to the level of that room, being a smoker or non-smoker is irrelevant. Allowing smoking rooms at a property does not give an establishment the right to neglect or allow a room get to the point of smelling like the bottom of an ashtray. I have no doubt in my mind that any smoker would feel just as disgusted as I did walking into that room. How a room could smell that disgusting is almost unbelievable. However the stench and odor of theses smoking rooms are beyond ridiculous. I've stayed in many smoking rooms in the past without a problem other than an odd smell or two. I don't smoke but at the same time I'm not neurotic or sensitive to cigarette smoke. If you arrive after 6-7PM on a Friday or Saturday night no matter what room type you have booked, chances are you will be forced into a smoking room.
